The 20K that didn't happen...

Today was my first practice 1/2 marathon. I started at Sun Lake Forest Preserve where I did my first lap, and it was about 1/2 frozen tundra, so I did my lap (2.77 miles) stopped my tracker and drove over to a friend's house, used her bathroom and just ran on the sidewalks in her neighborhood and through the streets. Other than the FRRRRREEEEZING cold temp and snow/ice pellets/rain that showered over me the whole time, it was a good run. I had eaten oatmeal and 1/2 a banana, then HEED by Hammer at home and had a Hammer Gel at about 5 miles and then 3 gummies by Power Bar at 8 miles and powered on through. This was the first time that I used my bottle belt and that was slick. To have water on me and not have to drive my route and stash bottles (which seemed unsafe) was luxury! I tried Aqua Hydrate, it is supposed absorb faster, tastes like water, it was fine, but expensive for water! This was the day that I would have done the last of the survivor series, 20K, so I ran 21K!!! No problem, I'm ready for real racing!!!
